Christina Davis

BIO

I graduated from Portland School of Art which is now called Maine College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. My major was painting and silversmithing was my second love.

I began a career working as a jeweler in major jewelry stores which entailed constructing intricate stone setting and repair work. I then had my own business and esxperience in the field for 15 years. Even though repair work was interesting, I needed to be more creative and wished for the day I could just focus on painting. Then the opportunity happened when I could.

The more I painted, the more I loved it. I knew it was something I had to pursue again. I started being more prolific in pastel painting in 2016 and have loved it ever since. I now live in Scarborough, Maine and gain inspiration from the marshes, ocean, and sky.

I am a signature member of both the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of Maine.

“Painting nature in landscapes is ever-changing. The reflections and its subtleties, the contrasting colors and deep rich tones that I love so much create drama in my paintings.

“Mark making. is very exciting to me when I can use it to express direction of movement from natural surroundings. I feel there is always a coil of energy in my paintings that will move the viewer to go on their own voyage as it does me when making art.”
