Colin McGuire offers this workshop for artists of all levels. Support will be provided for each student’s artistic goals. This one-day, 3-hour workshop will provide an introduction to the practices of palette knife painting explored by Colin to achieve vibrant, emotive, and rich landscape imagery. Class will begin with a demonstration and discussion of the process, followed by each student beginning a small painting from a reference image. Focus will be on expressive mark-making, texture, basic color theory, and paint application techniques. Techniques will be based on an impressionist approach to image making. Students will work on a tabletop easel which will be provided.
Colin McGuire is a master painter, teacher, and gallerist from Massachusetts and the head of the Art Department at the Academy at Penguin Hall in Wenham, MA.
