BIO

Neil Wyrick has been painting in oils for over 30 years. He studied art in Seattle, Washington; he received a degree in fine arts fromWestern Washington University. He won numerous awards for his work on the West coast and quickly found himself in galleries on the East coast as well. With his saturated colors and profound shadows, his paintings evoke a feeling of joyous optimism. His talent for using bold color and early morning light to animate his paintings has been widely commented on. He specializes in oil paintings of street scenes, lobster boats, and the Portland waterfront. He participated in select group shows at Yarmouth Frame and Gallery in Yarmouth, Maine and Hole in the Wall Studio Works in Raymond, Maine. Formerly, he regularly showed at Little Sebago Gallery in Windham, Maine.

“I strive to animate each canvas with light and rich color. My main subject is the city of Portland and its architecture. I’ve done numerous paintings of portland’s waterfront and its iconic buildings. I try to capture the vitality and creativity of this city in eah painting I produce. My paintings begin as something quite abstract and quickly transcend into something more impressionistic.”
