LOU JAMES

Lou Davies James is a poet and mixed media artist originally from New York who lives in Winterport, Maine. She attended college at the State University of New York at Brockport. Her work in early education spanned thirty years with a heavy emphasis on art development and music. Growing up near the ocean on Long Island, living as an adult on the North East coast of Florida and now in Mid-Coast Maine, a stone's throw from the Penobscot,  Lou has always been influenced by nature, sea song, gull caw and the ebb and flow of wave, moon and tide, both in her art and three published volumes of poetry. Lou has been working predominantly with alcohol ink in recent years. The color is vibrant, the flow of ink unpredictable, the results organic and surprising. They have led her work in unexpected directions, both joyous and unforeseen.  Her work can be found in private collections from Maine to Colorado.
